I know, I know, I know... I've been slacking in a major way... ya'll have every right to feel that way but allow me to explain...

I went on a vacation out of town for the first time in a good five years and even though I had my computer with me, I made it a point to limit my internet access so I could enjoy the time with the fam... the plan as to come back home and then blog it out for the rest of the year but of course, that didn't happen either as I've been spending most of my time finishing up my script for the movie (which is coming together quite nicely...)

So today, a week before the new website launch, seemed like the best day to put up the final entry of Where the World Goes When I Close My Eyes... the new website will become available on January 11th as you all know and it's going to be a lot different from this one but will still possess on the general fuckery of this blog so don't worry about me going too far left with it... it's been a blast fam... hope to see you next week!

So, of course, I've been slackin' on the blog but at least I have a decent enough excuse this time... last week was finals week at ECU so I spent most of my time studying and taking exams... that being said, I can now focus my attention on the coming year...

2010 is going to be a big year for your boy... I've always been the creative type and I always figured that, somehow, I'd end up doing something creative as a way to make money... thus far it hasn't been very lucrative but I think that can be attributed to the fact that I haven't gone in 100% with it... I mean, for the most part it's just been half-thoughtout concepts for movies, books and clothing... and even though I know I have the talent to go the traditional route, the odds of getting hired to do one of the three is so small window and most will try to pigeonhole your creativity, ideas, etc and I'm not really down with that... so, for 2010, I'm saying "fuck it..." and I'm going to do all three on my own terms... independently... why wait for somebody to come along and let me do it when I can just go and do it myself? So, that being said, here's what you have to look forward to in 2010:

Mid-March to Early-April: the book

Of course the new website debuts on 01.11.10 (my 25th birthday if you're unfamiliar) and some other big things will be coming to fruition in the new year... For the record, FUCK NOTRE DAME... (yeah, I said it...) There has been entirely too much bitch-ass-ness going on in relation to Charlie Weis leaving (ahem, being fired from...) Notre Dame... I understand all about the prestige of coaching at this school... all the mystique that's involved with it but let's be serious... Notre Dame is far from being the powerhouse they used to be... they lost to UConn this year, B... the University of Connecticut beat the Fighting Irish this year... do you understand how ridiculous that is? But in any event, let's move past this season... they haven't done shit for a long time now... after three coaching changes, nobody's brought back the eliteness that they possessed in years past... however, ever since it was announced that Weis was leaving, there's been almost as much coverage on who the next coach would be as there has been coverage on Tiger Woods... ok... maybe not THAT much but still... entirely too much coverage in my opinion...

I've been a huge fan of this dude ever since he came to Cincinnati because he seems to encompass this innate loyalty and always seemed like a quality guy... however, today this dude did the fucking unthinkable... he's gonna coach at Notre Dame... and not only is he going to coach, he's going to leave his team NOW and start coaching immediately... what part of the game is this?!?!! The season is not over yet... there's one game left... did he forget that? No, he just prefers to be a bitch and leave now... and this to me, presents two VERY major problems with college football (besides the obvious complications with the BCS nonsense...)

First off, stop slurping Notre Dame... this shit has seriously gone on long enough... it's the equivalent of North Carolina going through ten mediocre seasons but everybody's constantly trying to coach there... how far and for how long can prestige carry you amidst mediocrity? I just don't get it...

Secondly, STOP HIRING COACHES UNTIL THE FUCKING SEASON'S OVER... too often, a team will fire it's coach and then have this mad dash to hire another one like all the good ones are gonna be gone in the time between the regular season ending and the bowls coming to conclusion... we're talking about three weeks... THREE FUCKING WEEKS... I mean, have some tact... it's one thing to leave your school to coach elsewhere especially when you consider it a promotion... however, it's quite another to leave your school while the season is still going on and disregard them like a stepchild simply because some second-tier team asks you to... it's disloyal like a motherfucker... it's like dating a girl who cleans you up, helps you fix your credit, pays for you to get through school and then you drop her for the first big butt in a skirt a month before you get married... that shit is ALL the way fucked up...

Ok, where do I begin with this one...? If you were uncertain at all, let me reassure you that I am a good man when it comes to relationships... I cook, I clean, I rub feet, I'm not disrespectful, I try my best not to start arguments over little dumb shit, I do whatever I can do (read: "in my means") to make my woman happy... and most importantly, I'm honest about my flaws...

Enter this lady here... ungrateful... and it's not like this is my first encounter with this type of chick because it's not... I remember dealing with one particular situation back in 04 where I was talking to this chick... and she basically told me that her ex used to hit on her, used to cheat on her, wasn't working, wasn't in school, wasn't trying to do for her... now, me being the man that I am, told her that I was willing to do whatever it took to keep a smile on her face... this wasn't some bullshit to get some ass or anything like that... I genuinely liked this girl... six months go by and things are going ok... we're chillin'... never really arguing and she sees that I'm doing all the things that I said I would... that's when it happens, her ex calls and tells her he wants another try... without even thinking about it, she says yes... then proceeds to call me months later and tell me that they're getting married and she's pregnant by this dude and she's so happy (yeah, like I wanted to hear that shit...) and the same thing just kept happening to me throughout other relationships in the following years and it really had me thinking "should I just be a fucking asshole to keep these women happy? Because whatever I'm doing isn't working..."

These are the things I don't understand about women... I have friends who will KNOW that a dude is no good for her but will stand by him through whatever... he cheated on you so you start doing all the freaky things that you're sure he's getting from the other chick on the side so he won't feel the need to deal with her anymore... he doesn't work but you buy him all types of shit and say not to worry, you'll hold him down... he doesn't cook or clean but you're making this dude five-course meals AND cleaning up the kitchen afterwards while he sits on the couch playing PS3 and IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE...

Meanwhile, you have a good dude somewhere in your midst... you might work with him, he might be a friend you've known for a while, just might be somebody you went to high school with that you've reconnected with... he does everything a good man is supposed to do... pays his own bills, takes care of his kids (if he has them), goes to work EVERYDAY, has several degrees in whatever field he's in and still has the potential to be even greater than he already is... he's always been polite with you and will bend over backwards just to see that you're taken care of, no matter the situation... however, this guy can't get a chance with you because you're still waiting for the "real" him to come out... and this doesn't make any sense...

Ladies, listen... there are GOOD MEN out there... let me repeat it for the hard of hearing and partially blind: THERE ARE GOOD MEN OUT THERE... you keep ignoring us (well not me, because me and Nicole are still together despite the bullshit... LOL) and it's not fair... stop assuming that every man out there who appears to be a good man isn't... there are some genuine good men out there who would love nothing better than to be everything you want and need out of a relationship... but you're jeopardizing your own happiness by talking and acting crazy...

Me and Darren are always talking about relationships and one thing that keeps coming up is a woman's ungratefulness... it seems that a woman would rather complain about what she has instead of simply just leaving and going towards something greater... (NOTE: this is not to say that a woman shouldn't work for her relationship... I'm not saying that at all... but if, day in and day out, you're complaining about your man's bullshit whether it be his laziness, unwillingness to work, physical or mental abuse, there is NO need at all to fight for this relationship... there is NO purpose at all...)

And I know I've touched on this subject before but women are simply not getting it... I get more texts/calls about a man fucking up than anything else... with the exception of Tunisha (who has gotten her a good man just like I hoped she would) I can't think of too many of my women friends who can talk about one good man they've dealt with all year long and that's fucking depressing... however, I wonder how many of these women are bringing it on themselves by dealing with fucking losers instead of dealing with a good dude...

The bottom line is this: women like the chick in this video are on my fucking nerves... don't expect sympathy from me if you continue to deal with a dude you know is no good... you have no one to blame but yourself! If you know of a good dude and you think that you can make a relationship work with him (because not all good dudes are compatible with every good woman) then hop on that nigga (figuratively not literally... even though that might be a way to go) because if you don't, a smarter, probably more attractive woman will... and that's real fucking talk... before you go on talking about how there are no good men and that you keep dating losers... ask yourself why that is... are you simply putting up with a man just so you can say you have one or do you genuinely see potential in him? If it's the former, then L-E-A-V-E immediately... If it's the latter, by all means, deal with his no-good ass until he turns into something... but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen...

Daaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmnnnn... I been slackin'... I know, I know... the past few weeks have been little more than random webfinds and videos with no real commentary... I know and I apologize but as you all (should) know, your favorite blogger is graduating in a little over two weeks and my professors have been on my ASS with all this extra work (even as I'm typing this, I have work left on six--yes, SIX--different essays that are all due sometime this week) and the blog has unfortunately taken a back seat... classes are over next Tuesday so as you can probably guess, there may be some lag on the blogs once again until then but it will definitely be picking up soon and for the last month of the year, you can expect an increase on the blogs in a major way...

I've loved every moment of this blog and seeing as how I just went over 20,000 hits in just a little under a year, you all seem to have loved it as well... but at some point, you gotta know when to just let things die...

If you can't tell by now, I'm a hood dude... born and raised on a block that's known for crack sales, gun violence, et cetera, et cetera... however, one thing I am not is a fucking hoodRAT (yes the term applies to men as well...) and I generally don't have anything against hoodRATS simply because for the most part, they don't know any better...

Which brings me to the video above... at what point do hoodRAT things become a thing of the past? With me, I think it's 17... when you can be legally charged for dumb shit is when you should stop doing it... the last time I got in a fight, I was 16 years old... this dude had been talking wild reckless to this girl I was tryna smash so I had to go upside his head... that's neither here nor there... the point I'm making is, after your 18th birthday, there's no excuse for fighting somebody you don't know... especially out in public... I mean what is the point? What could a person you don't know POSSIBLY do or say to you that you'll continue to fight them after the police has shown up? And not to be sexist, but it's usually females that are dealing in this type of behavior... and I just don't understand the point...

I got this from another blog but these go for me too... if you do any of these (and ALOT of you do...) consider this my way of telling you to stop...

Unless you’re living a seriously alternative lifestyle, you’ve probably been communicating via text for a while now. You text your friends, your boyfriend(s) — even your parents. It’s quick, convenient, and usually makes your life a helluva lot more pleasant...except when you come face to face with the 10 worst texting offenses in the world. Check ’em out below, plus some advice on how to stop offenders in their tracks.

1. The Mass Text
It’s Friday night, you’re at home on the couch, and you get a text that goes something like this: “What are you getting into tonight?” You know for a fact that this very same text just went out to 20 other people at exactly the same time, and that the sender is just waiting to receive all his/her options before deciding what to do. So what if the only thing you have planned for the night is that lame-ass (but sooo good) Lifetime movie at 11? You refuse to hang out with someone unless they make specific plans to hang out with you. You know how you can block those newsletters that you never signed up for by sending an e-mail with “unsubscribe” in the body? We suggest doing the same thing in a reply-text.

2. The Texting Cult
There is always at least one point in the night — a lull in the conversation, a pause between thoughts — when it gets really quiet, and you look around and realize that all your friends are busy texting. One person pulls out her iPhone while everyone else is looking at the dinner bill, and then someone else starts doing it, and before you know it, you’re in the middle of the sacred circle of text. Resist the urge to choose some random person in your contacts to send a useless message to. Instead, pull out your phone and send a text to everyone at the table asking, “Should we order another drink?” It will make everyone laugh but also point out the silliness of the situation.

3. The Double Message
Of course you screen calls. Everyone does. Sometimes you’re in the middle of something and sometimes you just don’t feel like talking. But your phone is still working, and you see the missed call and the voice message alert. So why — why?! — do certain people feel the need to send a text letting you know that they just left a message? Don’t they realize that if someone is smart enough to read a text, they’re also capable of understanding what the little bobble head with the sound waves coming out of him symbolizes? Text back, “What’s next, a carrier pigeon?”

4. The Texting Tease
You’re seeing a really cute/smart/funny/cool new guy, and your heart skips a tiny beat every time you get a text from him. In the middle of the week, you get one asking what you’re up to this weekend. Assuming he wants to do something together, you let him know that it’s looking pretty relaxed so far. Does he then proceed to make a plan with you? No. He responds, “Oh okay, cool.” You stand there with a perplexed look on your face. Respond “Yeah, but call my secretary if you want to schedule something.” This way, the ball is in his court, but ultimately you’re the one who is in charge, thanks to your confident attitude.

5. The Bulk Texter
An example of what a series of texts from this person might look like:
Text 1: Hey!
Text 2: What’s up?
Text 3: What are you doing tonight?
Text 4: Some of us are going to Cool People Bar tonight.
Text 5: Around 10
Text 6: It’s gonna be me and Chris
Text 7: Are you coming?
Text 8: Let us know
Text 9: Byeee!
Text 10: lolz

An example of what that exchange should look like:
Text 1: Hey, Chris and I are going to Cool People Bar around 10 tonight. Let us know if you wanna come.

An example of what you could text back:
Text 1: Please

(one-minute pause)

6. The Bored Texter
You’ve just finished a sufficiently long and entertaining texting exchange with someone, and now you’re ready to put your phone down for a little while. But your phone dings, and it’s another text from said person. It looks like this: “Soooo...” Or, “What upppp.” Or, “la la la...” Clearly, they have nothing else to say and just want something to do. Send a text saying, “Running, watching movies, reading books, baking.” Your buddy will get the point that some people actually have a life.

7. The Show-and-Teller
Love is wonderful. We’re huge advocates of love and being in love and enjoying that love. People gushing on and on about their amazing love life? Not so much. Not only do you have to listen to them tell every insignificant story about how cute it was that their boyfriends ate pancakes for dinner and woke up with a funny hairdo, but you also have to read all of their SUPER-cute texts. “Guys, look what he wrote to me! Omg look at what he said now! Haha aww, look at this one!!” The cure? A dose of their own medicine. “Hey, look what my Mom said about her gallbladder! Omg you won’t believe how I’m planning to organize my sock drawer! Aww, my dog is wagging his tail. Oh, he’s doing it again!!”

8. The Goobers-and-Popcorn Texter
The previews are over, you’ve been waiting to see this movie for weeks, and here you finally are, snacks in hand. But the guy in front of you insists on ruining your experience by texting for the entire 96 minutes. Here’s a little secret he doesn’t know: EVERYONE sees his phone lighting up. And hears it vibrating violently every two minutes. When the lights come up at the end of the flick, call up a friend and loudly discuss how rude the guy texting throughout the entire movie was. Then get ready to start running.

9. The Lingering K
This one is especially aggravating if you’re not on an unlimited texting plan. You get a message asking how your day went or if you’ll be free at a certain time, so you send back a detailed and informative reply. Your phone dings again. You open the message and it says...“k.” Do people not even have the decency to include the o? The offender doesn’t even need to reply to the message. But if they feel the need to, could they not at least drum up something a little more personal/creative/not totally unnecessary? Respond by letting them know how much, to the cent, they owe you for superfluous texts the next time you’re together. Then hold your palm out expectantly.

10. The Needs-to-Grow-a-Pair Texter
Guys should never, ever get comfortable with using text slang and abbreviations. Whether he’s a friend, date, or boyfriend, no girl wants to associate the men in their lives with tween-speak. The next time he sends you a “TTY L8ER” or “C U 2morrow,” tell him that he should really consider an iPhone, BlackBerry, Sidekick, or “anything that gives you more room to text.” He’ll realize how outdated his text-talk is.

My feelings are this: tampons are something you know you need EVERY month at the same time... why can't you just surplus them jawns? Chattanooga police fired 53 shots at suicidal man to subdue him; doctors count 43 bullet wounds

The Chattanooga Times Free Press is reporting six police officers fired 59 bullets to subdue a suicidal armed man last month.

A preliminary autopsy report shows Alonzo A. Heyward, 32, had 43 bullet holes in his body.

Police say the use of force wasn't excessive.

"When we are trained to shoot, we are trained to shoot until we subdue the threat," said Lt. Kim Noorbergen, police spokeswoman. "We are not trained to shoot to kill, as many people think."

Heyward was pointing a shotgun at his face outside a fast-food restaurant on July 18 when approached by police. Officers followed Heyward to his home on Seventh Avenue, continually asking him to disarm, but Mr. Heyward didn't comply, police have said.

On Monday, Chattanooga police released an audio recording of the encounter. One neighbor is heard telling officers that Mr. Heyward had been threatening to kill himself all day and had been drinking.

Police say that once on the porch at his house, Mr. Heyward pointed his weapon at them. They shot him with a stun gun. When that didn't work, the officers resorted to deadly force.

Six officers were placed on paid leave after the shooting.

Why I Respect Some Professors and Loathe Others...

So today has been one of those days that starts off really wack but then ends up ok... let's recap:

ANTH 2010: This has become my surprise class of the semester... I just knew I was going to HATE this class but it's actually kinda dope... my professor is kinda weird (but what anthropology professor is all the way normal?) Well we had a test today... I know I failed... like, literally, I failed... I just don't know how bad... I was sick all last week so I missed two classes which was pretty much 40% of the test... it's my own fault... I wasn't dedicated to getting the missed notes... no biggie... but I had one of those times where you don't remember something until you leave... like "ARRGH!! I remember the answer to number three now! Fuck!" But of course at that point it's too late... and I thought we had another test before the final but we don't... which means, there will only be three grades... the 'C' I got on the first exam, this 'F' and the final... which sucks because I'll basically have to ace that shit... but it is what it is... I gotta do whatever it takes to pass these classes...

SPAN 1004: This is by far my least favorite class... because there was a point in time where I really wanted to learn Spanish and become fluent in it... so I studied, made sure that I really worked hard to verb tenses down and whatnot... so when it came down to the test, it wasn't that big a deal because I was already devoted to learning the language anyway... I've gotten to the point now where I just really don't care though... and since I don't care, I really loathe this class... and the professor doesn't make it any easier... usually, I spend time writing poems or just random bullshit... anything to make the time pass... so today, I actually wanted to be a part of class... I paid attention... followed along in the book and was actively trying to do the work... so when she called on me, I actually surprised her by knowing the answer because usually I'm on some "damn, why she just call on me...? I ain't payin' attention" type shit... so the second time she called on me, I was still paying attention but I just didn't know the answer... I had been doing everything on my laptop and I asked the girl next to me what a word meant and she called me out like I wasn't paying attention... talkin' about "Greg, you need to put that laptop up if it doesn't have anything to do with Spanish..." so now, couple the fact that I don't know the answer, it looks like I'm talking in class and I got my laptop open and you got a moment that's making me look stupid... and I don't like to look stupid... it just made me feel wack... like I know I'm not doing a good job at setting the scene but she just made me feel like an ass even though I was genuinely trying to do my work... but it's all gravy... trust and believe, next Tuesday, I'll be on my slacker shit and then I won't have to worry about feeling offended...

ANTH 3002: This class is almost always boring... LOL... I mean, there's just too much reading and too much of these same repeated information over and over... today wasn't too terrible... in fact, it was kinda dope... I turned in some work online on Tuesday but the professor said she didn't have a grade for me... now where the average professor would've been on some "well, I don't believe you... just get it to me... I'll take some points off but at least I'll take it..." this professor was cool about it... I just resubmitted it and she said she wouldn't take points off...

ENGL 3830: This is my play-writing class... I've tried just about every type of genre of writing and this was the only one I hadn't really explored... I didn't think I was all that great at it but today my professor (who's had plays and screenplays published) was like "I love your writing... if you need a letter of recommendation then just let me know... I'd be happy to do it..." HOW DOPE IS THAT? I mean, I know people get LOR's like it's nothing but I've never had a professor just straight come out to me like that like "if you need something, I got you..."

But anyway, that was my day... and I wish I could say I don't have to think about school again until next Tuesday but I have a Spanish test, three essays to work out, lots of homework and a bunch of other things to take care of... until next time, blogfam...

A Virginia man was arrested for being naked - in his own home.

Eric Williamson was making coffee in his kitchen Monday morning and didn’t thing anything of the fact that he was nude since he was alone in the house, according to WTTG-TV.

But a woman and her 7-year-old son happened to be strolling through his front yard and saw the 29-year-old having breakfast in the buff through his window.

They called the cops on Williamson and he was arrested for indecent exposure, according to the Fox station.

The man argued that he had no idea he could be seen, but cops believe he wanted people to see him like that.

“If I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen, it’s natural. It’s my kitchen,” Williamson told the station.

He faces a year in jail and a $2,000 fine, but plans to fight the charge.

I know I been on a crazy hiatus but I actually have a great reason this time: I've been sick... so of course I had to do the whole orange-juice, chicken-noodle-soup, plenty-of-bedrest thing and whatnot... but anyway, I'm better now more or less so I figured I'd hit ya'll up with some randoms...

Whenever I see ads on television that say, "These are not paid actors," my first thought is, "these are some paid fucking actors..." LOL I mean, they kill me with that whole "I've been using this product for twenty years and it's great!"
